This is going to be my last post before I go inactive.

I was gonna post this yesterday but I was still overwhelmed with 5sos’ comeback that I can’t form and arrange my thoughts.

So now, I will give my true and honest opinions and thoughts about their new song:

It was incredibly amazing to have the boys back and to have new music from them after two long years. It was really a long wait and I understand why they took that much time before releasing new music.

Yesterday, the boys gave us all a taste of what’s to come with their next album by releasing their new song, “Want You Back.” It was out 8AM yesterday here in my country and even if I am never a morning person, I woke up early to wait for the release because I ain’t missing it for the world. Damn, I waited two years for this!

I was really excited to hear the new song and see what this new 5sos era is about to give us. So when the song came out, I was quick to listen to it on Spotify. I had my eyes closed as I sincerely listened to it.

As the song started and I heard Luke’s voice, I was like, ‘Damn, I missed that voice very much.’ The song continued playing and as it ended, I sat down and thought about the new sound from 5sos.

To be really honest, it was not something that I would expect from 5sos. I mean, the song is great; it really is. Luke’s vocals is on point and it fits the song very well. But the genre of their new music is just not the kind of music I mostly listen to. I was expecting something that they usually do before. Like improved version of the music that 5sos creates before.

Musically and lyrically compared to the songs in SGFG, I just really couldn’t feel WYB. SGFG was a masterpiece. The lyrics of each song were on point and were really deep and incredibly constructed. It was the album that I most relate to. Just amazingly and beautifully done. 

But like I said, WYB is a GREAT song. It’s beautiful and sounds amazing, it’s just not my type.

Maybe the band is exploring and being experimental right now with other music genres which is really great because it can help with the band’s growth and evolution and as well as their musical evolution. It could expand their music and their abilities as well. I totally support them with everything  they do in their career and in their music.

Even if I am not really into WYB I’m still streaming it since yesterday and have it on repeat. I’m sure I’ll get my way around this new genre and this new 5sos era. And hey, it’s still just one song, we haven’t heard the album yet. I’m pretty sure the whole album will be amazing. The boys are very talented and they have poured their hearts out in making this album. I can’t wait for the whole album to come.

Kudos to 5sos for this amazing release and for being number 1 as well on iTunes. Stream it on Spotify too so we can also get it on top! Let’s show our love and support for the boys!
